The main areas in the kitchen that need deep cleaning the most are things we use regularly but don't clean as often as we should.
Rangehood filter
The rangehood filter takes the top spot because it tends to get forgotten about while tucked away in the rangehood.
But it collects a lot of grease and if not regularly cleaned it can become a fire hazard.
That's not all, rangehood filters that are too dirty to effectively remove cooking grease from the air result in that grease then splattering around the kitchen making the room even dirtier.
To clean soak in hot soapy water for 10 minutes and wipe with a sponge, then rinse and leave to dry.

Oven
Dirty ovens don't pose any health risk to the food we cook in there, but they are a fire hazard and at the very least start to produce a smoky smell when turned on.
So if it's been a while since the last time you cleaned your oven give it a once over this spring.
Include the oven door glass, racks and surfaces inside and make the whole thing easier to clean by preheating first to loosen residue.
Underneath cabinets
The tops of cabinets get the occasional dust and doors often get fingerprints wiped off them but have you ever looked underneath?
Stand by your bench and stick your head under the cupboards to see if any mould, fingerprints or stains are present. There is plenty of food and grime that can get splashed up there without us realising.
Using hot soapy water scrub the underside of the wall cabinets with a damp, but not wet microfibre cloth. Then wipe dry with another cloth.

Toaster and kettle
This breakfast duo gets used daily but is rarely cleaned.
The kettle builds up limescale inside the machine making the kettle work harder, so add some citric acid to a litre of water and then set to boil. Leave for 15 minutes and then rinse.
As for toasters, they collect more crumbs than you could ever imagine so after turning off the appliance at the powerpoint remove the tray and shake, wipe or scrape off crumbs and then give it a wash.

For the main part of the toaster you can hold that over a bin and tap to loosen crumbs. Some people have used a hairdryer to remove hard to reach bits.
To remove any burn stains from the top of the toaster, take some 0000 super fine steel wool that has had a little water added to it and then gently scrub those areas. Wipe with a dry cloth and make sure the toaster parts are completely dry before using.

Sink
Sure you wipe the sink over after washing up but have you ever given it a really good scrub and polish?
The drains can do with a deep clean too if they haven't had one in a while.
With some hot soapy water scrub the inside of the plughole with a small bottlebrush to remove any buildup and use an old toothbrush to scrub the plug hole. Then rinse with hot water.
Next, give the sink a once over with soapy water and a microfibre cloth followed by a rinse to remove any residual grime. Then scrub with your preferred cleaning product such as baking soda and water or Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser and Polish. Rinse off the product and dry with another cloth.

Fridge
Food and beverages get moved in and out of the fridge frequently and while you may have given the inside a wipe there are other areas of importance.
Firstly, if you haven't wiped out the fridge and washed all the shelves in a while remove all the items inside and do that.
Next, look at the fridge seals and if the crevices are filled with crumbs wipe those out and tac.
Clean the front door of the fridge including disinfecting handles with a cloth dampened with hot soapy water.

Dust the top of the fridge, and if it's covered with books or other bits and pieces dust those too. Consider decluttering anything you don't need to keep there.
Now it's time to move the fridge and clean underneath and behind it, there'll likely be a lot of dust and grime that has built up.
You'll also want to clean the fridge coils as these can stop the fridge from working efficiently, resulting in a higher power bill. Unplug the fridge before doing this and use a dry cloth to dust the coils before vacuuming up the debris.
