Cleaner provides proof that hack for keeping shower glass sparkling actually works
Ask any professional cleaner what you can do to keep your shower looking cleaner for longer and they will all say the same thing.
Using a squeegee at the end of every shower to remove excess water and soap residue has to be the most frequently recommended shower cleaning tip.
But most people who hear it wonder whether it's worth doing and if it actually makes a difference.

A cleaner has shared proof that it's worked wonders for one of her clients with a photo of crystal clear shower glass after two weeks of them taking her advice.
"I think this is all the proof you need," she captioned a TikTok post with a photo of the clean shower screen.
Charlotte had cleaned the shower before the client started using the squeegee and then returned to clean the shower two weeks later.
"I have a couple of clients who are very good at using their squeegee, and I can tell. No watermarks or scale buildup on their shower screens at all. Saves time and also keeps their showers in tip top condition," she added.
The comment section was filled with more examples of how well the squeegee hack works.
"It's amazing the difference… I've trained my house to use a squeegee and the screen looks great all the time. Such a simple thing makes a difference," another cleaner said.
"Amazing I tell my clients this and they say they don't have time makes such a difference great advice," one wrote.
"It's seriously a game changer!! When I was heavily pregnant I often just left it and oh my days that grime built up instantly!!" another commented.

The reason squeegeeing off excess water and soap residue helps keep shower glass clean is because there is nothing left on the screen to create buildup or stains.
Cloudy glass isn't the only thing the squeegee tip helps with, it also reduces the chance for mould growth on and around the glass by removing excess moisture.
The squeegee is also good to use on shower wall tiles to help prevent mould and discolouration on grout.
Another spot you can use the squeegee on is the shower floor to help any water remaining after a shower drain more quickly. This can help with reducing mould in floor tile grout and the bathroom in general.

To go one better a towel or microfibre cloth can be used after or instead of squeegeeing to dry the shower more thoroughly. However, the towel or cloth then needs to be placed somewhere so it can fully dry and then washed before using again.
The best way to encourage yourself to squeegee the shower regularly is to keep one in the shower. While this won't automatically motivate you to do it, having it there within reach makes it more likely than leaving it in a cupboard.
Shower squeegees can be purchased from Bunnings and Kmart for as little as $2, but if you need one with a suction Bunnings has a few options including the $20.95 Better Living chrome crystal shower squeegee.
To make your shower even easier to clean keep a dish wand filled with dishwashing detergent in the shower for spot cleaning while you're in there.
