The surprising $12 Kmart buy better for storing a bathroom essential than what most of us use

In most bathrooms you'll usually find toothbrushes and toothpaste stored in a tumbler, which is typically the best option if there aren't many things to fit in it.

For one woman a tumbler wasn't enough to contain all her families' toothbrushes and toothpastes leaving some of them out on the bathroom vanity.

But she has found a clever solution at Kmart thanks to an idea suggested by her husband, and it involves the last item you'd probably think of to use for toothbrushes.

Britt revealed in a TikTok that instead of the tumblers she got a brand new toilet brush holder to use the bottom compartment for her toothbrushes.

"The little cups weren't enough to hold everything so I looked at the toilet brush holders and they were exactly the same pattern or design as the toothbrush holders but much bigger so I thought 'Why not? Let's do it'," she said.

After putting all family members' toothbrushes and pastes in the former toilet brush holder Britt said "everything fits in nice and neat".

The toilet brush and holder set Britt used for her bathroom vanity is the $12 natural rib toilet brush set from Kmart.

Kmart often releases toilet brush sets in the same design as bathroom tumblers, trays and soap dispensers so you can still get a matching set even if you try this hack.

The storage trick was a hit with those who watched the video, including one who had an idea for the leftover toilet brush.

"This is a clever idea. And you can still use the toilet brush in your existing toilet brush holder, which is perfect for when you need to replace an old one," one said.

Britt responded, "Yes, exactly! The brush needs replacing much sooner than the brush holder so yeah it was handy having the new brush."

"Yes, l love that idea, off l go to Kmart and buy us one, lol," a woman commented.

"Wait that's so smart," another said.

This hack is a reminder that sometimes the best storage solutions aren't always the products specifically designed for that purpose.
