Warm up on the sofa with a heated throw. Kmart
Produced in partnership with Kmart
Heating is a must when winter hits and there is one option that beats all others for cosiness.
It's extremely effective at beating the chill and keeping you toasty while seated or lying down, meaning less reliance on the heater, especially at night.
That item is heated blankets and throws, which are a must while relaxing on the sofa and working from home.

The heated throw has nine heating options. Kmart
I swear by heated throws and keep one on my sofa and another in my home office. They really warm up the body so well and knowing how affordable they are to use means I turn them on regularly.
It's so lovely and cosy to curl up with a heated throw that I look forward to using them, particularly the one on my sofa. It's the nicest way to spend a cold evening.
Last year I rarely needed the heater thanks to a combination of warm clothes and a heated throw.

That's not to say you don't need a heater, they are really handy for taking the chill out of the air, getting through those extra cold days and, in some parts of Australia, vital for surviving the season.
But by using a heated throw for those times when you're just watching TV or reading, and heating yourself rather than the house, the heater can be used for shorter periods and/or at lower settings.
If you'd like to combine your heated throw with a heater, or just need a heater this winter, a gorgeous option is the flame effect fireplace heater.

For $79 you don't just get warmth, you get ambience too with realistic log flame effect and adjustable flame brightness and thermostat control.
For those times when you just want the vibe of a fireplace, the LED flame effect can be switched on without the heat.
It features a gorgeous antique fireplace look, along with overheat protection, tip over switch protection and a safety thermal cut-off device.

When you're using a heater it's important to do everything you can to keep the warmth inside the room.
One of the best ways to stop heat escaping through the floor, as well as cold air coming through, is using rugs.
An option to pop in areas like the hallway or in front of your sofa is the $24 faux fur green rug, which measures 110cm long and 65cm wide.
It won't just help block in heat, the cosy feel will prevent your feet getting a cold shock when they hit the floor.

Another good way to warm up is with a hot meal, but this can be tricky if you're taking food from home with you when you're out and about.
Whether you're in a working environment like a shop or office or waiting in the car, hot homemade meals are now possible without a microwave thanks to a clever product.
The $19 warming lunchbox has two compartments; one for fruit or salad and another for hot meals.
It keeps food warm at approximately 70 degrees thanks to a cord that plugs into a power outlet and there is also a car connection cable.
