The $59 Kmart hair tool that finally gave me the glamorous style I've always wanted
Glamorous loose curls are now achievable with the hair styler. Rachael Gavin
Produced in partnership with Kmart
Curling my hair myself has always been a challenge, particularly achieving those gorgeous loose curls that look so glamorous.
I just can't seem to work out the coordination to use my straightener that way and I've never quite been able to figure out curling tongs.
But finally I've managed to master the look thanks to the Kmart air styler kit and I was shocked by how easy it was and so impressed with the results.
For $59 you get a carry case with the handle, left and right curler attachments – so you can't possibly curl your hair the wrong way – and a brush attachment.
The air styler kit has everything you need for curls and volume. Rachael Gavin
To start I combed through my hair to remove any knots, then sprayed a heat protector product and separated the left section.
I adjusted the air styler settings and put the fan on two and the temperature on 80 degrees.
The first piece of hair I took was from the bottom and I simply just held it next to the air styler and it did the rest, twirling the hair around the attachment itself. The only thing I had to do was angle the hair styler so that it could pick up the entire piece of hair.
Then I simply left the hair on the styler curl attachment for a few sections before releasing downwards to remove it from the hair.

Things were off to a promising start with the left side of my head. Rachael Gavin
From the first try I could see a beautiful curl and I was curious to find out how well it would hold that shape by the time I'd finished.
I continued to do the rest of the left side of my head and when I was done, sectioned up the right side.
At the halfway point, two things were clear; the curls were looking well-formed and hadn't dropped much, and my arms weren't as tired as they usually get using styling tools. Both huge wins!
Almost finished. Rachael Gavin
Before beginning the process again on the right side, I removed the left attachment and swapped over to the right one so that my curls will spiral in the most flattering direction.
The right side was just as easy, and thanks to the practice with the left hand side looked even better.
When I finished I sprayed some hairspray and waited a few minutes before running my hands through my hair to get the glamorous loose curls I wanted.
I was stunned by how gorgeous it looked and that finally I can actually style my hair this way.
Wow! Finally I can get loose curls without the frustration. Rachael Gavin
Curious to see if I could get a more relaxed waved look if I used a brush on the curls, I brushed it gently and yes, that looked beautiful too.
As someone who has struggled with most hair tools to get the look I want, especially without sore arms and a lot of time, I was blown away by the hair styler and the look I was able to achieve so quickly and easily.
I will definitely be using it regularly and can't wait to try the other brush attachment for those days I want volume without the curl.
I brushed my fingers through my hair for a more relaxed look and am so impressed! Rachael Gavin
