Millions stunned as mum dyes her bed black for son's room makeover
A mum has sparked controversy over an upcycling project she revealed she was doing for her son's gaming room.
Becca Jane decided to update her old bedhead with a new look instead of buying a new one and showed how she did it in a TikTok.
More than 8 million people have watched Becca Jane turn the grey headboard black by painting on the dye with a large paintbrush, and they have had a lot to say about it.

"My son wants a double bed for his bedroom and this grey one I just thought was a little bit too girly for his 10-year-old gaming room," she said explaining she wanted to save money by upcycling her old one.
"So I went on eBay and bought some fabric dye, read the instructions, I have no clue what I'm doing here but you had to mix it with some colour activator, soak the bed – so I've just sprayed it [with water] and now I'm just painting [the dye] on."

The UK local continued painting the bedhead black until the entire surface was covered and the colour looked black.
After that proved a success, Becca moved on to a grey desk chair her son uses while playing computer games and painted that with the black dye as well.

While the bedhead was more of a dark grey after one coat, Becca was happy with how it turned out.
But one of the overwhelming comments posted about the video was about the statement that the grey bedhead was "too girly" and people are not happy.
"How is grey 'girly'? What are you teaching him?" one said.
"Sorry, you thought light grey was 'girly'?!…" a man asked.
"Grey isn't girly," a woman commented.

Becca addressed this in another video explaining that the reason her son thinks the grey bedhead is too girly for his room is "because it used to be my bed and in my bedroom".
"He clearly doesn't have an issue with grey because he picked this bedding set which is grey," she said, adding that grey bedding with a black bedhead looks better.
There was also concern over the dyeing method, with people worried the colour would rub off.
"I'd be scared to sit on it incase the die leaked on to my clothes," one said.
"Be careful! That dye will likely transfer to clothing when you sit on it!" another wrote.

This warning seems to stem from the standard process for dyeing fabric which usually involves rinsing the item afterwards to remove any excess dye.
However, one person advised there shouldn't be an issue as they've used the same product the same way.
"I've used this fabric dye it's good doesn't come off on your clothes as I painted my dining chairs," they said.
