Pub trivia question stumping Aussies: 'Mate left before getting the answer'

A pub trivia goer has shared a question that stumped them, asking Redditors for help.

"From pub trivia, mate left before getting the answer, any ideas?" they asked on the forum's 'Australia' thread.

They posed the question alongside a photo of a puzzle featuring five images – two appearing to be the silhouette of a woman's head and three symbols usually seen on the door of men's public restrooms.

Above the two silhouettes of the woman's head are ticks.

More than 1,600 Redditors attempted to solve the puzzle in the ensuing conversation.

"Any clues or context like it being a band name or something?" one person asked, only to be told the instruction was the image is "usually a phrase or saying."

One commenter joked: "This is why phones aren't allowed at pub quizzes. Look at what chaos he has created!"

"Someone let me know when there's an answer," another said.

"Do you have the rest of the riddles? Knowing the method of solving it could help work this one out," one Reddited said.

One joked: "You know what they say, two heads are better than three men." To which another added: "Two heads are better than one, but three heads are better than two if you need a committee to make a decision."

Another speculated: "Ladies first? Looking for Mr Right? Sees right through them? Looking right at them?"

One said: "My guesses: Woman's Rights, She'll be right, Ladies and Gentlemen, Women, Ladies First."

"Someone call Burgo," another joked, referring to iconic Aussie Wheel of Fortune host John Burgess.

One suggested the image means: "Ladies before gents."

"Two out of three ain't bad," another said.

Most concluded the puzzle represents the saying "ladies before gentlemen." However, the conversation continued unabated.

UPDATE: The pub where this trivia question was asked, Penrith Gaels, has contacted 9Honey to reveal the official answer and it is... Ladies First. The venue runs a free trivia night every Wednesday night at 7pm.
