'That's really disappointing': Coles and Woolworths confirm removal of popular snack
Tyrrell's hand-cooked chips are no longer being sold at Coles and Woolworths stores.
The popular snack's absence from the major supermarkets was first reported on Reddit, with an artisan chip fan lamenting they weren't even given the chance to "stock up" before their removal.
"It's been confirmed from Tyrell's that Woolworths, Coles and IGA have stopped stocking these. Gone from their shelves without warning or even clearance tags. Didn't even get a chance to stock up," a Redditor said on the online forum's 'Australia' thread.

"It's nothing to do with a product recall. The major supermarkets have simply stopped carrying the range and the Tyrell's range is now being sold through a wholesaler to independent stores," the post continued.
"These were f---ing good, made in Australia with Aussie potatoes, and at $3.80 for 165g. Price does what it says, without stupid price hikes and fake offers.

"Maybe Colesworths couldn't deal with a product that didn't play their game?"
9honey Kitchen confirmed the news with both Coles and Woolworths and contacted Snack Brands, the makers of Tyrrell's.

They told us the decision was due to "insufficient levels of consumer demand".
"We always aim to bring delicious snacks to our consumers in line with their needs however we sadly had to retire the Tyrrells brand from market due to insufficient levels of consumer demand," a spokesperson for Tyrrells said.
"We realise that there will always be true lovers of the brand out there however we need to balance the requirements of our consumers as well as our retail partners when making these tough decisions.
"The good news is that we continue to innovate and offer great alternatives under our Kettle and Natural Chip Company brands. For anyone still keen to get their hands on Tyrrells, they will continue to be sold for the foreseeable future in certain Harris Farm outlets."

The spokesperson added: "Consumers can get in touch with our consumer care team for more information on where to find them."
Tyrrell's originated in Herefordshire, England, before moving manufacturing to the Yarra Valley in Victoria in 2016.
The Yarra Valley site was the first location outside of the UK to produce Tyrrells crisps.
Redditors did confirm some stock was still available at Harris Farm outlets as well as some IGAs and 7-Elevens, or even The Reject Shop.

Others reported placing orders via Amazon.
"Hey there, this is really sad news, Tyrell's are definitely one of my favourites, especially the cheddar and chive flavour… my local IGA still has stock so if you're really keen for some packs and can't find a viable purchasing avenue then send me your details via DM and I'll post you some stock," they said.
"Damn, that's really disappointing. They were the best chips on the shelves," another person commented.
"Noooo cheese flavour Tyrells were the only potato chip I bought," said another.
"I'm still mourning the loss of the Tyrrells veggie chips that were around in 2016-2018," one Redditor commented.
Another added: "Absolutely unacceptable. These are the only good chips."
Several Redditors pointed to Tyrell's being released in only "crinkle cut" as the beginning of the end.
"Love Tyrell's, best chips by far, though I liked them better when they weren't crinkle cut. Probably going to get crucified but they were also better when they were UK made. They're still miles ahead of the competition though, hate to lose them," one person wrote.

Others felt they didn't taste the same once manufacturing moved to Australia.
Some stopped purchasing them when their favourite flavours were discontinued.
"The sweet chilli flavour disappeared ages ago. I still try to get them overseas when I see em," one said.

"I stopped eating them way back, they got rid of their salt and vinegar flavour, and then went to crinkle cut, it's a shame, because they were pretty great before they changed up," another said.
Red Rock Deli and Kettle were both mentioned as possible alternatives for Tyrrell's fans.
Both Coles and Woolworths also stock their own brands of premium chips.
