Sydney coffee shop named best in the world as Aussie venues sweep Top 100 list
Australia is known for its good coffee, but now it's been proven that we are the best, with a Sydney coffee shop being named the best in the world.
Beloved Aussie coffee brand Toby's Estate, known for supplying their beans all over the country, has taken out the number one spot at the inaugural The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops Gala that took place at CoffeeFest Madrid, in Spain.
Their store in Chippendale, Sydney was recognised for it's "Quality of Coffee, Barista Experience, Customer Service, Innovation, Ambience and Atmosphere, Sustainability Practices, Food and Pastry Quality, and Consistency", as per the competition's criteria.

The shop is described as an "experiential-based venue breaking down the walls between the customer and the barista for a coffee experience like no other."
It features an island brew bar so customers can get up close to baristas and ask questions, as well as overhead mirrors so they can watch their coffees being made.
The flagship cafe and roastery, located at 32-36 City Road in Chippendale, also features glass doors at the back which reveal a glimpse of the roastery, where the roasting team can be seen hard at work ensuring customers get their morning brew.
Jody Leslie, General Manager for Toby's Estate, says they are "beyond thrilled" at the win.
"At Toby's Estate, coffee is at the heart of everything we do, and I think that's reflected in our customer's experience. Our whole team puts in an immense amount of effort to make the best coffee possible, so we're absolutely delighted to be awarded this incredible recognition," she said.
The brand also has flagship cafés in Brisbane, Singapore, Middle East, the Philippines and they most recently opened in Fitzroy, Melbourne this year.

They were not the only Aussie shop to make the list, with Proud Mary in Melbourne and Coffee Anthology in Brisbane taking out fourth and eighthth place in the list respectively.

A total of nine Australian coffee shops made the best 100 list.
Others included Melbourne joints Veneziano Coffee Roasters at 19 and Calēre Coffee at 28 and Adelaide's Exchange Coffee at 37.

Further down the list was Fonzie Abbott from Brisbane at 70, followed by Melbourne's Vacation Coffee at 71 and Seven Seeds at 87.
