Former McDonald's worker explains why milkshakes sometimes don't taste like the flavour you ordered
As any true McDonald's fiend knows when they're taking that first slurp of thickshake, sometimes, you don't taste the dulcet flavours you're expecting.
One former McDonald's employee, Dessy Joseph from the United States, has revealed that, in fact, the flavour discrepancy is not something you're making up, and there's a reason for it.
Taking to TikTok, Joseph revealed the secrets behind the fast food service's kitchen, including what goes on with the milkshake machine. Watch above.

A follower asked Joseph on the video-sharing platform why there was "red stuff" at the bottom of their vanilla milkshake, and she delivered with her answer.
"Why sometimes this happens is because the shake machine will pour out a little bit of the previous flavour before it pours the new flavour," Joseph explains in the video.
"So sometimes you'll order a vanilla shake and you'll see the bottom is a little green because it's Shamrock shake season, or maybe it's a little brown, or your chocolate shake tastes a little like strawberry."

Dessy said the flavours sometimes mix because it all comes from one machine. TikTok
"Strawberry shake tastes like a little chocolate? It's just leftover syrup from the drink before," she adds.
Joseph also included a warning for customers who have allergies, saying that if you know you are allergic to one of the flavours, you should make sure you mention it to the cashier before you order your drink, so they can make sure the syrups don't get mixed up.
TikTok users were delighted and intrigued by Joseph's explanation.
"She speaks truth. I used to be a manager," one user claimed.
"My friend got a strawberry milkshake and half of it was chocolate," another wrote of their experience.
Another simply said: "You're supposed to use water to clear out between shakes."
Joseph replied to this, writing: "The machine is literally just a nozzle so you have no idea what you're talking about."
