The Sydney Royal Easter Show has never really been about restraint when it comes to food.
Gone are the days of fairy floss and hot chips. Now, you end up holding something deep-fried, dripping, or structurally questionable.
This year, a new 'Winning Bite' trail is putting a spotlight on the most over-the-top creations across the showground, with vendors leaning into novelty, nostalgia and just outright chaos. Here's what's on the list.

Nashville hot pickle on a stick
Pickle lovers, rejoice! Battered and fried, then hit with spicy Nashville-style seasoning.
As a pickle devotee, I might just drag my partner through the crowds of screaming kids and showbags to try one.

Scallop 'burggah'
Fried chicken sandwiched between two potato scallops instead of a bun.

Rainbow toastie
A classic toastie reworked with brightly-coloured cheese that melts into an exaggerated stretch.
This one is more than a little reminiscent of the 2016 rainbow bagel era.

Cereal flash-frozen using liquid nitrogen, so it releases clouds of vapour when eaten.

The Show returns to Sydney Olympic Park from April 2 to 13, with this year's food lineup making a strong case for arriving hungry.
