Subway has unveiled a delicious new biscuit with an important cause.

In collaboration with the Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL), Subway will sell Anzac biscuits to raise funds to assist veterans and their families around the country.

As the poignant day nears, Anzac biscuits have begun to fly off shelves, bought up by biccie-loving Australians.

Subway describes their latest product as "a golden, delicious treat inspired by the traditional Anzac Biscuit recipe," and customers are sure to love them.

A percentage of all traditional Anzac biscuit sales at Subway stores Down Under will support RSL programs that aid the nation's veteran community.

The RSL says this support from Subway will be crucial in the lead-up to and around Anzac Day this year, as the funds from Anzac biscuit sales will support the welfare and care of veterans nationwide.

"At a time when many Australians are buying Anzac biscuits as a tribute to those who have served our nation, Subway will be using the traditional Anzac recipe that dates back to World War One, and all funds raised will assist veterans", the RSL said.

"Our partnership with Subway is an important initiative and provides the opportunity for future promotions to support our veterans and their families."

Anzac Day is a day for reflection and honouring those who fought and gave their lives for this country, and the biscuits are a long-standing tradition.

As the story goes, the treats were favoured by the wives of soldiers fighting overseas because the ingredients would travel well as they made their way across the world and into the soldiers' hands.

Subway's Anzac biscuit joins its usual cookie favourites, including Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chip, White Chip Macadamia Nut, Chocolate Chip M&M and Double Chocolate Chip. The newest flavour is available in stores now.
