Restaurant owner reveals strange refund request: Ice cream 'too cold'

Lucia Hawley

A restaurant owner has been forced to refund a customer through a food delivery service after they complained that their ice cream was "too cold".

Hassan Habib, the owner of a restaurant named Lucky's, says he has been flooded with odd refund requests through delivery service 'Just Eat',  which has ended up costing him hundreds of dollars a month.

Habib said the requests have started to appear after Just Eat changed its refund policy to be similar to Uber Eats, making it easier for customers to get their money back.

While talking to reporters on Manchester Evening News, Habib revealed the strangest refund request came from a customer who ordered four milkshakes, a cheesecake, and an ice cream.

He revealed that after 45 minutes, they put in a refund request "because the food was cold."

"That's just one of the many examples — they just order food, put down 'X, Y, Z' is wrong with it, do a refund and leave us to the costs."

Habib acknowledged restaurants can make mistakes and said he always makes it up to customers if that's the case.

However, he said some customers take advantage of food delivery service's easy refund policy, which can cost businesses hundreds of dollars.
