9Honey Kitchen's very official Easter Egg ranking

There's a lot that divides us as human beings, but one thing we can all agree on is our collective love of chocolate.

Easter is the season where you can buy a grocery basket full of chocolate eggs and nobody bats an eyelid. Supermarkets are brimming with dozens of different varieties – so it can be tough to pick just one.

Thankfully, 9Honey Kitchen can help make that decision just a little bit easier.

We've ranked the most popular Easter eggs according to our taste and the top choice may come as a surprise.

Our Very Official Easter egg ranking pitted 11 different eggs against each other, with three choices coming out on top.

The God Tier

In our God Tier is the controversial and endlessly divisive Cadbury Crème Egg. Surprisingly, it was the number one pick for many 9Honey team members.

Crème Eggs are made with a delicious white fondant filling, more affectionately known as "goo".

Also in the God Tier category were Kinder eggs and the humble plain chocolate egg – hollowed out, of course.

Almost everyone agreed that hollowed-out Easter eggs reigned supreme compared to solid.

The Great Ones

Next on the list we have proof we're all children at heart. 

The beloved Humpty Dumpty Easter Egg, which is filled with jelly beans inside, was universally agreed to be a great choice.

Lindt Easter Eggs and plain solid eggs also made appearances in this second tier category.

Just Good

It came as quite a shock for the Caramilk fans in the office that this egg wasn't ranked higher in our list.

These delicious mini eggs are made with caramelised white chocolate, but voters decided to only place it in the "good" category this year.

Darrell Lea Easter eggs and the small but mighty speckled eggs just squeezed their way into this category too.

Belongs In Hell

We can't quite work out why, but it looks like there will be plenty of dark chocolate Easter eggs and bunnies left on the shelves come Easter Monday.

Many voters told us that dark chocolate was the "worst" option on the list when it comes to treating yourself over Easter. It is universally hated in our office as an option for Easter eggs. Everyone much prefers dairy milk chocolate.

And, despite being a popular choice among children, 100s and 1000s eggs also made it into the “belongs in hell” category, sadly.

It doesn’t matter what chocolate you want to wake up with on Easter, as long as you don’t accidentally leave it in your cupboard until it grows white spots. (That’s a sacrilegious act, if you ask us.)
