'Don't give up': Martha Stewart admits the dinner party can be 'exhausting', but insists it isn't dead yet

In 2012, The New York Times claimed, "The seated dinner, with its minuet of invitation and acceptance, its formalities and protocols, its culinary and dietary challenges, its inherent requirements of guest and host alike is under threat."

More recently, there have been some claims and reports dinner parties are in decline. Even food icon dinner parties.

It's recently been claimed younger generations simply don't have the time, energy or money to have people around for dinner. Others say the classic dinner party is back, while others suggest they're back but in a much smaller and more casual form.

Stewart also suggested her new book as a go-to for recipes and inspiration.

"It has 100 of my favourite recipes in it and you can take any one of those receipes, the salad, the first course, the main course and dessert and have a successful dinner party and some of them are very easy," she says.
