Man divides TikTok after leaving negative $40 tip to staff
A man has outraged TikTok after he left a negative $40 tip to staff, for service he claimed wasn't up to scratch.
The viral video posted by TikToker @gameoftony shows him writing up a negative US$32.49 (approx. $44.55) tip, with the caption "wrong food, waiting forever, rude waitresses, so sad!"

And while it seems @gameoftony only meant his post to be a joke — on closer inspection, his receipt clearly shows it's the customer copy, the act has ruffled feathers in the TikTok community.

While many have certainly seen the snooty side of a waiter before, or been forced to wait an overly long time for attentive service, TikTokers argued that customers should never expect to not have to pay for a meal.
"As a past waitress, this makes me sad. I always tip even if there are issues. We are human, mistakes happen," wrote one user.

"You can't do that, tips make up the main part of many people's wage," another person typed.
A third reasoned: "Did you say anything to the waitress about the wrong food? Did you give them a chance to fix it? Are they understaffed? Was the restaurant busy?"
But others didn't think the man was so out of line.
"Just because you go out doesn't mean you have to tip. If my waiter is very rude, unprofessional and ignores me etc...I leave $0," wrote one TikToker.
"I worked in the industry...tips are earned. Good service equals good tips," a second person added.
But many caught onto @gameoftony's joke: "Customer copy, tough guy," one person commented.
"Signing the customer copy" a second person wrote.
"Just a joke", @gameoftony replied, with some laughing emojis.
