From specially-flavoured hot cross buns to hybrid ice-cream and McDonald's McFlurries, Caramilk is in its Golden Age.

Now, another masterpiece has been added to the list of innovations emerging during what is quickly becoming a prosperous time for the sweet treat — doughnuts.

And not just any doughnuts, but Cadbury Caramilk Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

First made available in 7-Eleven stores last year, these special Krispy Kremes hadn't been seen for a few months since the first limited-edition drop, much to the chagrin of Caramilk fans.

Earlier this week, however, Krispy Kreme Australia announced the caramel-flavoured holey desserts were, in fact, making a comeback for a limited time only.

"Caramilk® addict assemble! One of our best collaborations has made it to our Krispy Kreme stores for an extremely limited time," Krispy Kreme Australia announced on their Facebook page.

"These doughnuts are at a hole new level and they're yours for the taking!"

The treats will only be available while stocks last, and will not be available for purchase in other retailers, including 7-Eleven, or South Australian stores.

Caramilk fans were quick to express their enthusiasm at the snack's comeback, as well as lament at the fact that they're not available in South Australia.

"Two of my favorite things 😍," one Caramilk and Krispy Kreme fan commented.

"They finally start selling them at Krispy Kreme stores and of course they're not available in SA 🤦," one Caramilk connoisseur mourned.

Others, however, were not fussed by the news, and instead are looking for other flavour combinations.

"No one wants these, bring back tiramisu for goodness sake!" one Krispy Kreme fan declared.

Another said: "The only thing better than this would be Golden Gaytime donuts with the actual ice cream in the middle!"

"Bring back the Crunchie donuts," a third person wrote.
