KFC worker reveals how famous gravy is really made

The famous KFC gravy is one of the most popular items included on the fast food giant's menu.

And now a KFC worker has shared the way the pot of flavour is actually made, and it might surprise you to learn it's not a packet mix.

Speaking to presenter Alexis Conran on Secrets of the Fast Food Giants, which aired in the UK on Channel 5, worker Jo showed off how the gravy is made.

"This is an original recipe that has come from the fryers, we drain it overnight and then it goes into making our gravy," Jo explained, while demonstrating how they add water to the "pan leftovers".

"It's literally as you'd make proper gravy at home with those meat juices."

The method completely shocked host Conran, who said: "Wow, that's blown my mind because I thought it would be some kind of fast version, that it would come out of a packet."

Jo also added they sold a million and a half pots of gravy in KFC a week, so despite what some people might think about the method, the end result remains popular.

Indeed, the recipe went viral on social media a few years back, when people's opinions on the method were somewhat divided.

"The way that KFC make their gravy has made me feel physically sick," one person took to Twitter to express their dismay at the sauce's special ingredients.

"Just witnessed how they make the gravy and feel a bit sick looking at it," another admitted at the time.

But others didn't mind, sharing their love for the sauce. "Suddenly I want to bath in their bloody gravy," one person commented.

While another said: "KFC gravy is absolute god tier. We have it on our family Christmas dinner no joke."

That's no surprise given Jo said she's heard of many people stocking up on the dip for the holidays.
