These are the easiest Christmas food gifts to make with the kids

Jane de Graaff

I'm like any parent anywhere – I love to give gifts, I want my children to join in the season of giving, I love doing homemade gifts with them… but I don't have a lot of time.

Still, I love Christmas food. It's part of the fun of the season.

So, I was overjoyed to join Today Extra this morning to talk through my favourite DIY food gifts for Christmas, which are so easy that you can delegate to the kids. They're around three ingredients each (what?!) and they are easy, delicious fun.

Check out the clip above to see how it's done, and let's get into the Christmas spirit of feasting and giving all wrapped into one.

Two-ingredient pudding cake-pops

This is actually just two ingredients – a pudding and some chocolate. Squish up the pudding, pop it on a stick and roll it in melted chocolate.

You can add sprinkles if you like, or just pop them in a bouquet and Merry Christmas indeed! Or you can do them without the sticks and decorate them as mini puddings.

Two-Ingredient popcorn snowballs

You make these by melting some marshmallows for 30 seconds in the microwave. Tip in a whole lot of pre-popped popcorn and mix it through. Wet your hands, grab handfuls and roll some balls.

Sprinkle on some edible Christmas decorations and ta-da! Marshmallow popcorn snowballs.

Cookie ingredients in a jar

Just fill a cute jar with the dry ingredients from a cookie recipe. Add a tag with the wet ingredients (eggs, butter, milk etc.) and the baking instructions. It's a DIY gift for your loved ones to bake.

You can even personalise them with ingredients each person likes. They looks so sweet, are a fun treat for the kids to put together and the end result is delicious.

Two-ingredient candy-cane bark

This is the perfect way to use the candy canes you're just not that into. Smash them up in a bag, melt some chocolate and sprinkle them on top.

Let it set, break it up and then you have the best Christmas after dinner mint that's a lot of fun for the kids to make.
