Coles is about to drop a new roast chicken flavour, and it is a total game-changer.

The Roast Chicken Butter Chicken will hit supermarket shelves on July 8, and shoppers could not be more excited.

The news was initially been shared on social media by The Grocery Geek and on Reddit. For now, details are scarce but more information is expected to be released by Coles closer to the release date.

The official description of the Coles Special Edition Roast Chicken Butter Chicken says it is "infused with mild fragrant spices" along with the usual "100% Australian, RSPCA Approved Chicken".

These new additions to Coles' roast chicken lineup will reportedly go on sale on July 8 and cost $13.50.

At the same time, the Portuguese-inspired Peri-Peri Roast Chicken will be discontinued.

Coles increased the price of its original Classic Homestyle Roast Chicken from $12.50 to $13 earlier this year.

"Any price increase is carefully considered and never taken lightly.

"Like many fresh food items, we've seen rising costs across farming, production, and transport.

"After reviewing these pressures closely, we've made the decision to adjust the price of our RSPCA Approved Coles Hot Roast Chicken from $12.50 to $13.

"This change helps us continue to support our suppliers and maintain the quality standards customers expect, while managing market pressures accordingly.

"We remain committed to delivering value for customers and will continue to review cost pressures carefully, lowering prices when possible or offering promotions wherever we can."

Woolworths also increased the price of its roast chickens from $12.50 to $13 that same month.
