Coles axes iconic 'free voucher' hack for roast chickens – but shoppers have found a silver lining
Coles has confirmed they will continue their current roast chicken "combo deal" after axing another existing offer earlier this week.
The supermarket's popular 'Coles Hot Roast Chicken & Coke Combo Deal', which allows customers to purchase a hot roast chicken and a 1.25L bottle of soft drink for $13.50, "will remain", a Coles spokesperson told nine.com.au.
The deal means Coles shoppers pay the regular $12.50 for the hot roast chicken, and just an extra $1 for their choice of 1.25L Coke, Fanta, or Sprite variety.

Coles ended their free roast chicken voucher offer on February 4. The offer meant that, in the event all of their roast chickens had sold out, customers could request a voucher for a free one.
It was a Coles insider who broke the news that the offer was ending on Reddit's 'Coles' thread.
"No more free roast chooks," they wrote, explaining that Coles was "scrapping the hot chicken promise, so no more vouchers for a free chook if the warmer is empty".
A Coles spokesperson later confirmed the news, telling nine.com.au: "We know how much our customers love our RSPCA approved Coles Hot Roast Chickens.

The offer means customers pay just an extra $1 for a 1.25L bottle of soft drink to go with their roast chook. Nine
"They're one of the most popular items in our supermarkets and they offer a delicious, great value and convenient meal solution for Aussies.
"To make sure our hot roast chickens are available when customers want them, we've made some changes recently to how and when we cook our Hot Roast Chickens which means improved availability particular during busy times such as lunch and dinner.
"This means customers can continue to enjoy this much-loved, hot and delicious meal option."
Coles recently added a new flavour of hot roast chicken to its line up, a limited edition Portuguese-inspired Peri Peri hot roast chicken, which costs $13.50.
Coles General Manager Meat, Deli and Seafood Karen O'Connor said the limited-edition roast chicken had been developed to help customers bring a bold new flavour into their weeknight meal rotation.
"Our RSPCA approved hot roast chicken is an Aussie classic, so we're always looking for new ways to delight customers with flavours they'll love," she said.

Opinions on the offer ending have been split, with some supermarket insiders saying their are relieved to see the back of it, while others feel it may lead to unnecessary waste as Coles ramps up production of roast chickens to ensure a constant supply.
