Delicious Christmas lunch menu ideas for $100 and under
The trick to sticking to a budget for Christmas lunch is all about planning and not over-catering.
After all, there's only so many leftover we can get through.
This year, Aussie shoppers are expected to focus on a single main for their festive spreads instead of two or three, put a little more thought into sides, take advantage of fruits and vegetables that are in season and well priced, and make use of supermarket short cuts such as frozen products and pavlova bases.

Let's take a look at two sample menus provided by Aldi and Woolworths – both coming in at under $100 – to help you plan ahead.
Aldi's $70 Christmas lunch for six to eight people
Aldi has put together a lunch menu that will feed six to eight people for under $70 and makes good use of the supermarket's Christmas ham.
For entree, they suggest starting off with the Specially Selected Mini Turkey Kyivs, which cost $13.98 for two, and Let's Party Brie & Cranberry Bites, which cost $5.99 for a pack of eight.

For the main course, you can serve up a Aldi's Festive Selection Australian Half Leg of Ham, which costs $7.99 per kilo or $15.98 for two kilos.
This can be served with roasted carrots, $1.49 per kilo, and Aldi's Cafe Series Duck Fat Potatoes, $4.99 for 600g.
For dessert, there's Aldi's Curated Collection Speculoos Deluxe Pudding Bombe. Two of these cost $13.98.

This can all be washed down with a bottle of Corte Carista Soave Classico DOC 2024 750ml for $11.99.
This all costs a total of $68.40 with one bottle of wine and $80.39 with two.
Woolworths' $100 Christmas lunch for six people
Woolies suggests starting off with a cheese board, including a Thomas Dux Brie Cheese for $2.70, a Thomas Dux Vintage Cheddar for $4.80 and two packets of Woolworths Plain Water Crackers for $2.20.
Also slice up a Beurre Bosc Pear for this one; that'll cost $1.13.

This can be served up with a Woolworths Prawn Ring Platter for $8.50 with some Woolworths Seafood Mayonnaise for $2.65.
For the main, you can bake up a Woolworths Half Leg Ham for $32.00, with a Woolworths Orange, Honey & Mustard Glaze which costs $4.

Add some Woolworths Cranberry Sauce for $2.90.
Sides can include baked potatoes, which cost $9 for one kilo, and some parsley, which sells for $3.20 per bunch.
You can also serve up a Woolworths Cranberry & Kale Slaw Kit, which costs $5.50.

Dessert is a pavlova made up with a Woolworths Large Pavlova Base ($9.20), some Woolworths Thickened Cream ($5.40), some Woolworths Passionfruit Pulp Canned ($1.09) and a punnet of strawberries ($4.05).
This will all cost $98.77. If you want to add in a couple of bottles of wine, this will obviously take you over the $100 mark, but it's still pretty good as Christmas lunches go.
