A beloved chocolate has disappeared from supermarket shelves - but there’s good news

Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Rolls have disappeared from supermarket shelves, leaving chocolate lovers concerned the beloved treat has been discontinued – but all is not as it seems.

A sign in store at Woolworths in Baulkham Hills in Sydney simply reads, “This item is temporarily unavailable”, with Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Rolls 55g also missing in Coles supermarkets and on the Coles and Woolworths websites.
However, a spokesperson for Cadbury Australia has told nine.com.au the product hasn’t been discontinued and will return “in the next two weeks”.
“Our Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar Roll has been temporarily out of stock due to high demand (it’s a well-loved product in our range!), but we’re happy to share it’s expected to be back on shelves at major retailers in the next two weeks,” they said.
The Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Bar Roll is one of Australia’s most beloved chocolate products and has been since it first launched in the 1970s.
It was created in response to growing customer demand for more convenient confectionery treats and following the success of similar products including Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles and Life Savers.
Until then, Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate had only been sold in flat blocks.
Today, it can be found in several service sizes including blocks, single-serve rolls and bars.

This has included Nestle single-serve Golden Rough chocolate discs, which have been discontinued from Coles and Woolworths but are still available at independent retailers.
“No, it hasn’t been discontinued,” a spokesperson told nine.com.au.
“Golden Rough 20g is still available at Metcash and petrol and convenience stores nationwide for chocolate lovers who enjoy its coconutty, smooth and creamy choc hit.

“With an RRP of $2, it’s an easy on-the-go treat – now also available in Milkybar and Crunch varieties.”
Nestlé’s also discontinued their famous Fantales in 2023, much to the distress of fans.

A Nestlé spokesperson told us: “We stopped making Fantales back in 2023 due to declining sales and the significant investment needed to continue to make them.
“We don’t have any plans to bring them back.”
Other notable absences include Quality Streets tins of chocolates.
