Aldi's big move after Arnott's 'cruelly discontinued' beloved Aussie product
Aldi Australia is bringing back a version of a discontinued Aussie classic, much to the delight of biscuit lovers.
It was in 2021 that Arnott's discontinued the Lattice, a crispy and flaky biscuit square with a sugary crust.
Whilst not the most popular seller in the Arnott's range, it was beloved by a devoted group of Aussies.

Now, Aldi has this week released a version of Arnott's Lattice. It's called the Pasticceria Matilde Vicenzi Millefoglie.
The news was shared on the Aldi Fans Australia Facebook page and has been given a firm thumbs up.
"Remember when Arnott's cruelly discontinued the Lattice Biscuits?" one Aldi shopper shared.
"Of course you do. How could we ever forget?

"Well, tomorrow (November 26) Aldi releases these gems in the middle aisle for $2.28 and I reckon they'd work REALLY well for Lattice Slice.
"I'll definitely be giving it a whirl when I get home!"
Since Lattice biscuits were discontinued, many biscuit lovers had settled on Julie's Sugar Crackers as the best alternative.
They used to be sold at Coles but are currently out of stock. It's understood they can be purchased at Asian grocers.

Adding to the disappointment of Arnott's decision to discontinue Lattice biscuits is the fact they were used to create so many other desserts, such as Vanilla Slice or the popular No Bake Lattice Cheesecake Slice which sees Lattice biscuits layered on the top and bottom of cheesecake filling.
This is where Julie's Sugar Crackers came in handy, but they can be difficult to find – which is why Aldi's release of their Millefoglie is so perfectly timed ahead of the festive season.

Although the Aldi version doesn't come in the handy squares the Lattice and Julie's Sugar Crackers came in.
Instead they are smaller rectangles, but these can still be used in place of Lattice and Julie's. You just need to use more of them.
If they make it that far! I remember making No Bake Lattice Cheesecake Slice and eating as many as I used in the dessert!
Aldi's Millefoglie biscuits are now on sale for $3.99 per pack.
They have previously been available at other retailers, but now that they are being stocked at Aldi stores, they are much more accessible.
You can expect to see plenty of Vanilla Slice and No Bake Lattice Cheesecake Slice desserts this festive season.

Arnott's has discontinued several fan favourite biscuits in recent years including the Lattice and Honey Jumbles in 2021.
Arnott's Chocolate Wheaton and Custard Creams have also been discontinued.
A spokesperson for Arnott's has told nine.com.au: "We often have to make difficult decisions with our retail partners on which biscuits to produce at our bakeries and stock at supermarkets.
Unfortunately, this does mean we occasionally need to retire a few classics. We're continually developing new and exciting products, and we look forward to sharing what's next."
