Dad's heartbreaking words during funeral of boy who died from fish allergy

The father of a US boy who died from a fish allergy on New Year's Day has called out, "Don't leave me, don't leave me" during his funeral.

Camron Jean-Pierre, 11, was laid to rest at a funeral on Saturday in New Jersey.

During the emotional service at Holy Family Catholic Church in Canarsie, father Steven was inconsolable as he called out to his son.

"He cried so bad," a cousin told the New York Post. 

"He asked his son to come back -- his son was his friend."

The cousin said the  Jean-Pierre family is in need of support following the tragedy.

"The way the kid passed -- it hurt everybody," they said.

Before his death, Camron and his dad had travelled from New Jersey to Brooklyn to spend Christmas with Camron's grandmother.

She was preparing cod for dinner, and as the pair walked into her Canarsie home, the fumes from the fish overwhelmed Camron and caused him to pass out.

The boy had a known fish allergy and was treated with his portable nebuliser, however later died.

The family says Camron's last words were, "Daddy, I love you."

Grandmother Rosemannie Jean was visibly distraught at the funeral, reportedly clutching at while casket during the service.

Camron suffered the allergic reaction shortly after arriving at the house, fading in and out of consciousness before dying.

In between gasps "he gave me two kisses" the devastated dad told the New York Post.

Steven tried using a portable nebuliser and performed CPR but was not able to save his only child.

"I [tried] to give him the machine — that usually works — but it didn’t take, and then I just called the ambulance," he said.

Neighbours say the father-and-son duo were extremely close and often seen together around their borough.

"My son was the best," Steven said, paying tribute to "my everything", before adding: "That was my prince".

A city medical examiner will confirm the cause of death but police do not believe any suspicious circumstances were involved.
