'That was my prince': Heartbroken dad reveals son's last words as he died from smelling fish

A heartbroken father has told of his son's last words as he died during a visit to his grandmother's house on New Year's Day.

Camron Jean-Pierre, 11, reportedly had a severe allergic reaction to fish being cooked inside the Brooklyn house as they arrived in from New Jersey.

Unable to breathe after a whiff of the fumes, Steven Jean-Pierre recalls his son faded in and out of consciousness and said: "Daddy, I love you".

In between gasps "he gave me two kisses" the devastated dad told the New York Post.

Camron had a known allergy to fish but his father says they simply walked into the house at the wrong time, while the young boy's gran was cooking a cod dinner.

Steven tried using a portable nebuliser and performed CPR but was not able to save his only child.

"I [tried] to give him the machine — that usually works — but it didn’t take, and then I just called the ambulance," he said.

Neighbours say the father-and-son duo were extremely close and often seen together around their borough.

"My son was the best," Steven said, paying tribute to "my everything", before adding: "That was my prince".

A city medical examiner will confirm the cause of death but police do not believe any suspicious circumstances were involved.
