"Mum slipped away yesterday. After such a long drawn out illness it seems she left in quite a hurry. I tried to get there in time but sadly just missed saying goodbye," Falkiner wrote in her post.
"I will always remember her bright, vibrant, full of life self. Always on the go, project after project always creating beautiful spaces and beautiful things. Always wearing lipstick and was put together like a work of art."
She added: "My heart is aching for her but I know she is finally at peace. Love you always and forever mum. 💜🌈🌺".

"...Dementia is something I am navigating with my mum at the moment and it's the longest drawn out grieving process that's so hard to face some days," she added in part of her message.
Falkiner, who is married to former Nine sports reporter Hayley Willis, has been open about her mother's health battle in the past.
In May last year, she shared pictures with her mum during a visit and said: "She had a lucid moment and actually called my sister by her name."
"Moments like that are few and far between and I cherish them when they happen 💜."
