Thousands of people stunned by chicken wearing shoes

He has 178,000 followers on TikTok, a line of merchandise and close to eight million likes on his videos.

No, it's not another celebrity or influencer, its Nubz, a chicken with mobility issues who was adopted in January by California resident Michelle Davignon.

Davignon was shopping for houses for her guinea pigs when she spotted Nubz and asked if she could take him home too and make him part of her family.

Nubz was battling mobility issues after losing his toes following case of scaly leg mites – microscopic insects that live underneath the scales that coat chicken feet.

Davignon used different sprays to prevent the situation from worsening, before stumbling on a unique treatment: covering the bird's feet with Vaseline, then wrapping them up to suffocate the mites.

But to avoid picking up infections from the ground, Nubz's feet would need to be rewrapped regularly - and covered to keep his feet clean.

Responding well to treatment, the pair began to realise that they would need to re-wrap Nubzs' feet regularly to avoid infections from the ground.

So they tried a pair of boots.

This decision not only kept Nubz clean of infection but also improved his mobility.

In an interview with PEOPLE, she explained, "I didn't think that they would be such a great way for him to get around, but it turns out he walks around so much better with the boots when he's on, like, dirt or wood chips or anything that's rough."

Nubz now owns around 30 pairs of shoes and has become famous on social media.

Many fans and viewers of Nubz are invested in his recovery, with one adding "Looking great Nubz! I can't believe how much you've improved these past few months."
