Serena Williams shares photo of daughter ahead of Wimbledon
If you had any doubt that Serena Williams' daughter Alexis Olympia is the cutest little girl in the whole wide world, check out this recent photo her mum shared on Instagram.
In it, Alexis Olympia is pictured sitting on a court at Wimbledon, staring down at it and clutching a handful of grass along with the caption, "Hummm, that looks yummy #Wimbledon go Mummy."
The nine-month-old is also wearing her own miniature version of a tennis dress.
Serena, 36, makes her Wimbledon return next week, for the first time since she won the women's singles title two years ago.
The seven-time champ has been using the practice court ahead of the competition, alongside coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
Alexis has her own Instagram account on which the photo was posted.
It isn't known if the baby will be in the stands to watch her star mum compete alongside dad, Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian.
Serena took time out in 2016 to have her first baby, missing the 2017 tournament. She has only played three tournaments and seven matches since.
The tennis champ has previously opened up about her battle with postnatal depression, saying she struggled with feelings of imperfection as a mother.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, the 36-year-old tennis star said her challenging birth contributed to her difficulties.
"One minute, everything's going according to plan, and then I'm being wheeled off for surgery," she told the publication.
"I was terrified, and it was a whole new kind of fear."
The mother-of-one said following an emergency c-section and life-threatening complications, she found herself struggling in her role as a new mum.
"I remember one day, I couldn't find Olympia's bottle and I got so upset I started crying...because I wanted to be perfect for her."
Williams is speaking out about her struggles in an effort to help women feel less alone during what she calls the "fourth trimester".
"Honestly, sometimes I think I still have to deal with it," she explained. "I think people have to talk about it more because it's almost like the fourth trimester, it's part of pregnancy."
