Australia's oldest dad has revealed he wants more kids, after welcoming a baby boy a year-and-a-half ago.

Dr John Levin, 93, and his wife, Dr Yanying Lu 37, welcomed their first child together, a baby boy 18 months ago.

The pair told Nova 100's Jase & Lauren how their love story started and revealed they want more kids.

"My wife died, I was married for 57 years, I got very lonely," Levin said.

In an effort to change that, he set out to do something and decided that learning something new might help.

"I thought maybe I'll learn a language, for some reason I don't know why, I picked Chinese.

"I looked up all the schools I could go to, there were three in Melbourne... I picked on a Monday afternoon.

"This young lady came out and said I'm Yanying, I'm your teacher... (later) she said I was the worst pupil she's ever had."

"The Chinese wasn't really for him," Lu added.

The pair decided to stay friends and then a romance sparked between them.

While welcoming a baby into the family has been a big change, it's nothing new for Levin who is also a grandfather to 10 kids, although the moment he held his son was so special.

Levin described the moment he held his son in his arms for the first time as 'unbelievable."

"I still remember when we were in the hospital and he was sitting by the window, holding the little baby and with the sun behind him," Lu said.

"Probably," Lu added.

The 93-year-old said he thinks he can make it to 105 at least, adding that having a child keeps him young.

Dr Levin specialises in anti-ageing medicine, while Lu is a linguistics professor.

Lu said he's an "old-fashioned dad" and he won't change a nappy, but she expected that.

She also said that she's aware people judge the couple, but she blocks out the noise.

"If our story can put a smile on people's faces, then we've achieved our purpose."
