'This is top-tier mothering': Aussie mum creates epic Book Week costume for her son that wows

'Book Week' – two words that make most parents groan with absolute dread, and of course lead to a panic buy of some form of costume. 

But one Aussie mum has whipped out what can only be described as one of the most elaborate and well executed costumes... well, ever. 

Emily Kristopher's son wanted to be 'Mister Invisible' for Book Week this year and she nailed it, sharing a clip on TikTok which has already clocked up close to 500,000 views.

Now, let's kick this off by saying that while she admits that it's not actually from a book, it is. 

The Invisible Man is an 1897 science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, so technically it gets a pass although it would also work for a hectic Halloween costume. 

She explained that her son just wanted to be "an invisible man" and she really made it happen. 

In the clip she shared some progress shots before revealing the final product. 

"I can't cope I'm so proud of this," read the text over a clip of her son in the costume.

With a hat and sunglasses floating above his head and what seemed to be clothes wearing themselves, she nailed it. 

"Magnus got first place out of the whole school," she excitedly updated from her car. 

"Validation!"

Emily, who doesn't even consider herself a "DIY girl" was giddy with the joy of knowing her creation had won. 

In the comments on her post she shared an update. 

"This victory is going to fuel me for WEEKS," she wrote. Any mum who has slaved away to create something for your kids that comes off well, will understand this feeling.

The comments on the post only reinforced that she did a fantastic job, with so many people blown away by the creativity and execution. 

"That looks unbelievably good, deserves first place," commented one person. 

Another wrote, "This is top tier mothering." 

"As a school teacher, this costume is sick," replied another. 

"All I did was order something online, I really gotta step up my game! Girl you did amazing," wrote one mum. 

One person cheekily added, "I can't see it? Why didn't you post him?" 

So, for anyone who is feeling particularly bad about their last minute rush to the shops for a pre-made costume, keep this in mind if you feel like going above and beyond next year… or for Halloween.
