UK store River Island praised for new clothing campaign featuring disabled children

UK clothing brand River Island has launched a new campaign for their children's clothing line, featuring some very special models.

Each of their new 'faces' has a disability and the light that shines out of these children's faces can't be dimmed.

There's Cora Bishop, six, from North Wales who has Down Syndrome.

Teddy Berriman, five, who has cerebral palsy, is partially sighted and has epilepsy.

Lois Groom, 10, from Hertfordshire who was born with the rare 18q deletion syndrome leaving her deaf, with learning difficulties and speech delays.

Then there's Gabriel, four, who has Down Syndrome, pictured right.

The clothing brand booked the models through Zebedee Management who represent clients with disabilities.

It's not just the children involved in the campaign who are thrilled about their exciting new jobs. Their parents are just as proud.

Sheryl Bishop, mum to Cora, told Metro her daughter loves to make people laugh, particularly on set.

"She's a very girly girl and loved dressing up for the shoot," she said.

Teddy's mum Nicola Short said her son likes to focus on showing people he is more than his disability.

"Teddy loved the shoot and it gave him such a boost to be able to do things which normal children do."

Lois' mum Dawn said she is proud of her daughter.

"She absolutely loves being in front of the camera and is a real natural."

Rebecca Sohota, mum to Gabriel, said her son is "full of life" and "loves making people smile".

"He has always liked social interaction and is an extrovert, which really helps in front of the camera."
