Fiance's shocking move forces woman to call off engagement a month before wedding
I had been in a relationship with my gorgeous partner Mark for seven years when he finally proposed to me. I was so excited that I was finally going to be his wife.
The engagement was beautiful, as he took me back to the beach where we had our first date. We had a champagne picnic, and then his brother appeared to video the proposal.
I burst into tears when Mark got down on one knee and showed me the ring, which was stunning.
It was the perfect end to a perfect day. But things soon went downhill, as Mark turned into a "groom-zilla" of the worst kind.

It all began when he put me on a strict diet because he wanted a "skinny bride" – and, like an idiot, I let him! Mark has always been the cook in the household so I just did what I was told and ate whatever he wanted me to eat.
He also wanted my hair dyed to a lighter blonde. I'm naturally blonde but I've let my hair go a bit darker and he doesn't like that. I agreed to it because I think I do look better with lighter hair, so that wasn't a major issue.
However, he started to act strangely strangely, following me when he didn't believe where I said I was going.
For example, if I said I was meeting a girlfriend for a coffee, he would ask me if I was meeting a guy. I'd tell him I wasn't but he would turn up to the café, just to check on me.

Mark also made me sign a pre-nuptial agreement, even though I'm the one who earns more money than he does.
He then took full control of my bridal dress, which is where I drew the line. Why should he have a say in what I wear on my wedding day?
I didn't like the dress he chose for me, it made me look frumpy and I wanted to show off my figure, which is very much the "hourglass" shape.
He got offended when I told him he should follow the old tradition where the groom doesn't get to see the bride's dress until she's walking down the aisle – he thought that was controlling of me!

Mark also made a big fuss about the women I chose to be my bridesmaids, telling me they were all "ugly" and would ruin the photos. He also said none of them liked him so he didn't want them to come at all.
He also took control of the food and didn't even want us to have a wedding cake. He was furious when I went against his wishes and ordered a chocolate cake with white icing, because he thought it was tacky – he called me "cheap" and said I was a bogan!
Mark turned into such a nasty character that I used it as a wakeup call to end things before I'd even paid for my dress.
I'm glad I had the balls to end it when I did.
