Questions are being asked about British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's choice not to wear a wedding band at his first public appearance since his recent wedding to fiancée Carrie Symonds.

Johnson, 56, was meeting with NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg at his official PM's residence No10 when he was snapped sans wedding band.

Keen-eyed followers also noticed he wasn't wearing one at his wedding reception either.

It could be that Johnson and Symonds are following the lead of other modern couples that are doing away with such traditions.

Johnson has been married twice before - once to Allegra Mostyn-Owen whom he met in university and once to Marine Wheeler with whom he has four children.

He also reportedly has a daughter with arts consultant Helen McIntyre. Johnson and Symonds welcomed their first child together, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, on April 29, 2020.

The couple was married in a small ceremony on Saturday, exchanging vows in front of 30 guests in London's Westminster Cathedral. It was attended by just 30 people with a larger event planned for when more coronavirus restrictions are limited.

Saturday's 'secret' wedding, attended by just 30 people in compliance with the UK's COVID-19 rules, was the third for Johnson and the first for Symonds.

News of their relationship broke in 2018 with the couple confirming their romance in June 2019 with their first public appearance. Johnson even shared a photo on Instagram, showing Johnson kissing Symonds on the cheek.
