Bride wants solo spa bachelorette, but wants bridal party to pay for it

A bride has been slammed after requesting a "solo spa weekend" in lieu of a bachelorette party.

To make matters worse, she expects her bridal party to pay for it.

The bride's request has been shared on Reddit's 'Wedding Shaming' thread: "Bride wants bridal party and friends to pay for solo spa weekend instead of having a bachelorette party."

She then posts a screenshot of the bride's message, which reads: "I have nowhere else to ask this. Would going to my 'bachelorette' party by myself be weird?

"Like ask the girls to pitch X amount of money they would have paid for their flights to even get to where I am for me to just spend a weekend pampering myself?" the bride asks.

"I just have girls that live all over, they have kids, and I just feel like this would be easier and less stressful for me to just do it this way."

"I hate attending bachelorette parties, but I also would rather just keep my money," responds one one Reddit follower. "It's okay not to have one, but why the heck do I have to pay for your expensive spa?"

Another writes: "The point of a bachelorette party is for the bride and her close friends to go celebrate and strengthen their friendship before you get married… now what YOU want is a vacation.

"So is it OK for you to ask your friends to pay for your all expenses vacation before your wedding that they are not invited to? (on top of all the other things they're going to do and expenses they're going to pay for your wedding)," they continue.

"Yes it's wrong. Don't even mention this or somebody's going to probably drop out of your wedding. If you wanna vacation go take one."

"This whole bachelor/bachelorette weekend sh-t has gotten out of hand," says another. "It used to be hitting a bar after the rehearsal dinner because you weren't supposed to see each other before the wedding.

"Then (back in the last century when I got married) it was a night out with the girls with a limo, veil and penis necklace a couple weeks before the wedding. Now it's destination weekends that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Now this chick just wants a cash payment from her friends for a private spa weekend."

Another describes being asked to be a bridesmaid as being "more like an expensive curse" rather than an "honour".

"Sorry, I'm just salty," they add.

"This woman is so out of touch she is orbital," says another. "I hope no one pays for her vacation."

"Wait, so the bridesmaids won't be coming for the bachelorette party in this idea, so she wants them to pay what their travel expenses would be...but aren't they going to the wedding anyway?" adds another Reddit follower. "So they're basically spending twice the amount for their trips, in exchange for less fun/time with the bride."

Another comments: "I think it's crazy she doesn't acknowledge people are paying to be with her, to share this experience and to have these memories that are dedicated to her.

"It's ok to not want it. So just don't have it then but how can she expect her friends to pay for her? Maybe ask them as a wedding gift instead," they continue.

"I don't now, I just think it's crazy she can't see how crazy she is."
