A bride has ruffled some feathers among her family members with a controversial move ahead of her wedding.

Her antics have been shared on Reddit's 'Bridezillas' thread.

"Came across the most unhinged thing I've heard a bride do," the poster wrote.

"She's getting married this year and she has put her parents on a diet for the wedding."

If that's not bad enough, they explained the bride has "also put the dog on a diet".

"The dog is not on a diet for health reasons but is not allowed treats because the wedding is coming up," they explained.

"It certainly doesn't look overweight to me," they added.

While there is plenty of sympathy for the parents among commenters, it's the dog that is most being thought of.

"I have so many questions," one Redditor wrote.

"Is the dog IN the wedding??? Are her parents actually going along with this 'diet'??"

All very good questions. Including pets in wedding ceremonies isn't unheard of.

The witness confirmed the dog will be part of the wedding, adding, "Not sure how they will pull it off".

They said the bride's parents are going along with the diet, but "are getting annoyed as the bride is pointing it out to them when she sees them eat something fattening as they are 'dieting for the wedding'."

"I cannot get over the dog, though. Super cute that he's gonna be in the wedding but worrying about your dog's weight just for appearances is next level!" one person commented.

Another speculated, "If her parents agreed to this, my guess is that they've encouraged this behavior her entire life."

"That poor dog. Somebody better be feeding it secret snacks!" one Redditer commented.

"What about the fiancé? Does he have to go to the gym twice a day or is he and his family immune to this idiotic behavior. Someone save the dog!" another said.

"Ok, I was alright with no desserts for big daddy and mama, but it is just mean to deny the dog," said one Redditor.

Another joked, "I would be dropping treats all over the place on the day of the wedding. See who goes for it first, the parents or the dog."

Others shared their own stories of brides with unreasonable expectations.

"A friend asked me to wear contacts rather than glasses for her wedding (I was the maid of honour) and I did it, but even dumb 21 year old me would have said no to being put on a diet," one said, adding that they went along with the request but "never wore them again after".

"My friends mom actually went for a stomach stapling procedure when him and his now wife announced their engagement," another shared.
