'Inseparable' Bondi shooting heroes announce engagement three months after tragic day
There's no light without darkness, and while the horror shooting in Bondi in December is a day the country – and world – won't forget, a love story has come out of it.
Lexi Edmondson and Jimmy McIntosh found themselves in unthinkable circumstances, leaping into action to save lives during the terror attack.
But ultimately they found each other, and three months later the couple are engaged and planning a life together.

Lexi Edmondson and Jimmy McIntosh met under the worst possible circumstances, now they're planning a life together. Today
The newly-engaged couple, who are both volunteers for the Bondi Surf Club, were at Bondi on December 14 for the club's Christmas party.
Recalling what happened that day, McIntosh told Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo they were close to the people who were being shot at, and he pushed Edmondson down to try and shield her from the gunfire.
"Eventually we made our way in when the shooting eased, and that's where we helped out," he explained.

After that day, they became "inseparable."
"I guess you go through that experience together and your heart is just so cracked open, you're just in such a state of vulnerability that it just forms these lifelong connections," Edmondson said.
"The community was so together at that time that we just spent a lot of time together, but I don't think it was that that actually has gotten us to where we are today."
Edmondson said that while it was a whirlwind, they talked about it every step of the way and did take things slow.
"We kind of had those conversations and discussions, but it almost meant that we then felt a bit more confident to step forward at the same time" she said.

"It has moved quickly but I think we've both been very reasoned and spoken to psychologists.
"You go through something like that and you just learn what matters."
In February, McIntosh proposed during a trip to Mexico on the Oaxacan coastline at sunset.
He organised the photographer to capture the moment he got down on one knee, with incredible photos to remember the milestone.
"It was just nice to be on the other side of what was a really tough time," he added.
Speaking about the proposal in another interview with The Australian, McIntosh admitted he had never been more sure of anything.
"I've never felt more connected to anyone than I am with Lexi and during that proposal I said I had never been more sure of anything in my life," he said.
"It was a new space for me to be totally confident and certain that this is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with."
The couple are now living together and planning a wedding for this November.
