Best man kicked out of wedding by bride and groom after speech fail

The best man speech at a wedding is a hard one to get right — it needs to be the right combination of heartfelt and humorous.

Sadly for one guy, the humour fell flat and he was asked to leave the wedding by both the bride and groom.

"It was going so well and people were laughing at all the right times and getting all the jokes," he began in a Reddit thread.

However, his speech hit a rough patch when he got to the part where he needed to say something about the bridesmaids, and as he didn't know them too well, he opted for something he thought would be generic but bold.

"I said 'Bridesmaids, I am a bit short of time here and I don't really know you all so I'd just like to say that five out of six of you look stunning today... figure it out amongst yourselves'.

"The room went dead and I knew I'd really f***ed up," he admitted.

The best man said he was mortified to find one bridesmaid was left in tears by his comments, despite the fact he "didn't actually mean any of them it was literally just nonsense".

"The bride came up to me and just said 'I think it's best you leave' and the groom just nodding behind her. I felt so bad and messaged them all and also apologised on the group Facebook page."

Taking to Reddit yesterday to complain about the incident, the best man also revealed he was told off by the bride's grandmother in a private message.

The post has had 27,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments, many sharing the worst best man speeches they had overheard at weddings.

Although, some offered tips to the man on how to handle the nod to the bridesmaids in future.

"'I'm grateful to know that the bride has such a strong network of loving, supportive friends at her side today. You all look gorgeous tonight' — In case you're ever allowed to make a wedding speech again," one person advised.
