All the Australian products you can find overseas

Living on an island in the corner of the world, it often comes as a shock to Aussies to discover a piece of home beyond our borders.

However, we underestimate just how much Aussie products are loved overseas, with many of our favourite brands found overseas.

One such brand is Anko, aka the lifestyle arm of our beloved Kmart.

Anko

An Aussie shopper was stunned when on her holiday in Manila, Philippines, finding an entire store dedicated to (arguably) the best part of Kmart.

"I was walking round a shopping mall in Manila (I'm on holiday in The Philippines) and came across this place!" she shared to a Kmart hacks group.

"No clothing, but they had lots of homewares, stationery, craft and beauty products in stock and at (reasonably) similar prices to Aus.

"I bought a nail file just so I could get a bag!!! Anko - bringing the joy of Kmart to The Philippines!"

Commenters were stunned by the discovery.

"Omg that is so cool!" said one.

"How funny, I just came out of this store... I'm on holiday too. I worked out the prices to be cheaper in Aus," said a fellow shopper.

'I'm giggling at the fact that this is Glorietta which is a high-end/upper class mall in Manila," shared one commenter.

The discovery led to others sharing that they have seen the product in other countries.

"I saw Anko products ina a department store in Calgary, Canada," said one commenter, sharing a photo of a bos of push-up bars, with the product name also written in French below the English.

Coles

Another shared a photo of Australian food in a supermarket.

"Lol when I was there in December they [had a] whole section in food called imported from Australia and this is what we found there," said one commenter.

The photo included a display of Bushells teas, Coles brand tea, and Coles brand chocolate.

Milo

Some Aussie products have, unbeknownst to us, cemented their way into the cultural identity of the most unlikely countries.

Aussies love their Milo, but they will find themselves in stiff competition with South-east Asian countries, who have made it the focal point of one of their national beverages.

Milo was believed to have crossed our borders when it was distributed in Singapore as free samples in Milo vans (not unlike in our own country), becoming one of Singapore's national drinks by the 1970s, according to Eater.

Milo has been used in many innovative ways in Asia. A Milo dinosaur consists of a heap of milo powder served on top of a cold milo drink, while an iced Milo simply mixes milk, ice, condensed milk, and the malt powder to form an ice cold beverage.

Variations of the drink are also found in Vietnam and Thailand, but Milo is considered Malaysia's and Singapore's joint colonial legacy. They even produce their own variation of the powder, which is said to be slightly sweeter, perhaps to accommodate for it's use in iced drinks.

An Aussie traveller in Japan was stunned when he found his favourite chocolate bikkie in the Asian country.

"Timtams in Japan are $4.62AUD ($1.40 less than Coles),: he posted, along with a photo of the treats on Japanese shelves.

"Daylight robbery…" one person commented in response.

Vegemite

Another products Aussies were stunned to find is cheaper overseas is our very own Vegemite, which is being sold at Tesco in the UK for £2.20, which is $4.43 is Australian dollars.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, the yeast spread is priced at $5 at Coles and $6.20 at Woolworths.
