Good news for runners or anyone who loves a comfy shoe: the new Hoka model is here!
The Bondi 9 has dropped this week, after almost three years without an upgrade to the Bondi model.
Here's everything you need to know about the new shoe.
What are the Hoka Bondi 9s?
The Hoka Bondi 9s are Hoka's latest shoe, an update to its existing Bondi model. The Bondi 8 came out almost three years ago, so this new release has been long-awaited by fans of the shoe brand.
What are the differences between Hoka Bondi 9s and 8s?
It seems that Hoka has focused on making their existing model even better and more efficient, rather than changing too much about the make of the shoe.
The Bondi 9 has "improved outsole protection from the ground up," Hoka's Australian Operations Manager, Roger Hanney, shared in a promotional video.
"Even though this is an incredibly light shoe, it's going to last you the way you would expect from a premium brand like Hoka."
The Bondi 9 has an extra 2mm stack height, making the shoes bouncier than ever as you go from step to step. They also feature a reworked knit upper that provides a better fit, but also allows for breathability during your long-distance runs and exercise in hot weather.
Are the Hoka Bondi 9s good for walking or just running?
Given Hoka's reputation among runners, we trust that this is a top-tier shoe for running. However, Hoka isn't an exclusionary brand, and is focused on ease of movement above all else.
"It started with running, but really it's about helping to promote movement and protect people so that they can continue to move, get back into running, or start running for the first time," Julian Roux, National Sales Manager for Hoka Australia and New Zealand told 9Product Reviews in 2024.
The Bondi 9s will make a great walking shoe, but there are plenty of other options if you want something a little less tech-heavy and a little less expensive.

When will the Hoka Bondi 9 be released in Australia?
The Hoka Bondi 9 are available now! They were released on January 16.
