AFL legend Nathan Buckley splits from girlfriend Brodie Ryan after three years: 'This decision was not made lightly'

ALF star Nathan Buckley's partner has announced their split after three years in a lengthy social media post.

The Collingwood great, 52, had been dating girlfriend Brodie Ryan, 36, since 2022.

In a statement to her Instagram Story, Ryan confirmed they've "decided to part ways".

Ryan thanked those who supported her "over the past couple of months of heartache."

"I am truly grateful for your kindness and consideration," she said.

"After much reflection and consideration, Nath and I have decided to part ways."

Ryan said the decision to split "was not made lightly, and we are grateful for the time we shared, the memories we created, and the support we received from each other and all of you."

"While we will no longer be a couple, I will always respect Nathan and the friendship that developed between us 3-4 years ago and have a lot of love for him and his boys and out beautiful dog Tank," she continued.

Buckley shares two sons with Tania Minnici, who he wed in 2002 and separated from in 2020 after 18 years of marriage.

Ryan concluded her statement by asking for privacy as the pair each "navigate this new chapter in our lives".

"Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of our journey."

In another post to her Story, Ryan said it was the "end of an era" and she was "sad to say goodbye to my favourite little community of Elwood."

Ryan included a photo of her and Buckley at the 2023 Brownlow Medal with the post.

The couple had also walked the red carpet for the 2024 Brownlow Medal together.

Buckley and Minnici announced their split in 2020 in a joint statement to the Herald Sun.

The pair said their decision to separation was "with the utmost of love and respect for each other and a true commitment to our sons".

"We remain dedicated parents and in the interests of our boys, we ask for our family to be given the privacy that is needed."
