It caught on because it was easily adaptable, in spite of the fact it was counterintuitive to read.

Now, thanks to a "part-time Zumba instructor and full time mum" on Twitter, we have a brand new meme that is actually centuries old.

As Big Sue points out, the painting is by Joshua Reynolds and depicts "actor David Garrick stuck between the allure of comedy and the prestige of drama".

This was the problem James Franco had before, well, he got himself into bigger problems.
