Simon Cowell’s fiancée Lauren Silverman makes rare remark about welcoming son after pair’s affair
Simon Cowell’s fiancée Lauren Silverman said finding out she was pregnant with their first child was “one of the hardest times of [her] life” – it happened while the two were having an affair.
Silverman, who now legally goes by the name Lauren Cowell, found out she was pregnant with their son Eric following an affair with the record executive 12 years ago. She was married to her husband of 10 years at the time, Cowell’s apparent good friend Andrew Silverman.

The 48-year-old was overcome with emotion as she looked back at the “awful” time in her life on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum podcast.
She acknowledged it was something she hasn’t spoken about in the last 12 years.
“There’s so many emotions that went with that because it was like, the end of my marriage,” Silverman said on the moment she found out.
“It was one of the hardest times of my life and it was just, the way that people would look at me. I was on the cover of every magazine and there were news stories about it because... Simon being Simon... and then... it was just awful.”
Silverman, who’s been engaged to Cowell since December 2021 following a nine-year-romance, said there’s “no way he could have known”.
“Simon was so emotional and I remember thinking in that moment, god, your life is about to change,” she said holding back tears.
She told the podcast host that becoming a father completely changed Cowell’s life.

Silverman and Cowell allegedly began dating in 2013, despite the fact Lauren was still married to Cowell’s friend, real estate mogul Andrew Silverman at the time. They had one child, Adam.
Andrew filed for divorce on the grounds of adultery shortly after and even went so far as to name Cowell as a co-respondent, which made headlines.
News then broke that Lauren and Cowell were expecting a baby, which only added fuel to the rumours around their romance and supposed affair.
The Silvermans eventually settled their divorce out of court and soon after that, Cowell confirmed to the world that Lauren was pregnant with his child.
Son Eric was born on February 14, 2014 – Valentine’s Day – named after Cowell’s father. Eric is half-brother to Silverman’s now 20-year-old son Adam.

Speaking to HELLO! magazine in 2024, Cowell said he never expected to be a father.
“[But] the first time I saw his scan, I was literally obsessed. Something changed and I looked at life in a completely different way,” he said.
