Where are they now? I Am Shauna Rae: Woman 'trapped' in eight-year-old's body updates fans on fertility journey

In 2022, Shauna Rae introduced herself to viewers as "the 22-year-old woman trapped in the body of an eight-year-old" in the hit series I Am Shauna Rae.

Shauna has a rare medical condition, which stems from the chemotherapy treatment she received for brain cancer when she was just six months old.

While the treatment was successful in saving her life, it affected her pituitary gland which led to a dramatic stunt in her growth. At the time of filming, Shauna stood at 3'10" and weighed around 50lbs (22.7 kgs).

The show documents all aspects of her life; from relationships to milestones and everything in-between.

While fans of I Am Shauna Rae wait to see if there will be another season of the heart-warming reality show, Shauna has kept everyone updated with her life on social media.

Now 25, she recently shared a video on a topic she was "avoiding" discussing; her ongoing fertility journey.

"A lot of people ask the question: Can I have babies with my small frame?" she began.

But while Shauna appreciated people's curiosity and concern, she explained that they were "asking the wrong question".

"It's not, 'Can I have babies due to my disability or my dwarfism?' It's, 'Can I have babies due to my chemo and cancer?'" she said.

Shauna explained that according to the advice of her doctors, her pituitary dwarfism has "nothing to do" with her ability to carry a child but if the time came they would likely recommend she deliver via caesarean rather than a natural birth.

Doctors told Shauna that her past chemotherapy treatments had reduced her chances of conceiving a child.

In the video, Shauna choked back tears as she thought about having a family of her own one day.

"Personally, I always thought about the idea of having children and earlier I deemed it improbable and not gonna happen and through the making of 'I Am Shauna Rae' and my mum it's given me a second hope that it is possible," she said.

Fans rallied around Shauna in the comment section.

"If you decide to go down the parenthood path one day, I think you'd be an awesome mom, super fun and down to earth 💫," one wrote.

While another said, "Please keep your chin up and be cheerful."

Is Shauna Rae in a relationship?

In recent weeks Shauna has also given her followers a little glimpse into her love life sharing pictures of a romantic flower delivery gifted by her boyfriend.

Shauna revealed she was in a relationship in December 2023 but chooses to keep her partner's identity concealed.

"So I've been keeping a secret…for a while actually. All you really need to know is they make me happy and I don't know if I'd be as far in my goals without them," she wrote at the time.

"Please know that all I ask from y'all is to support me and refrain from being hateful toward them or my relationship.

"Your welcome to your opinion but if it's not supportive you can discuss elsewhere. Any hate towards my partner is hate towards me and I don't tolerate that. I support each and every one of you and I ask for that respect back."
