Moose on the loose peers into couple's house

Now Pickle doesn't know much about moose.

Enough to know not to say mooses, but not enough to accurately detect what's going on inside those big heads of theirs.

But Pickle is pretty sure this particular moose set out specifically to freak out the residents of this New Hampshire home.

Nichole DiVietro had never seen a moose before.

Which is why she was so captivated when the full-sized cow wandered into her neighbourhood and closed in on her house.

And for a good few minutes, the moose stood centimetres away from the window and stared straight at her.

"Forgive the swearing... I thought it was going to try to walk through my door," she wrote on YouTube.

Moose are the kind of animals that Australians tend to forget exist, and their sheer size is easy to underestimate unless you see them up close.

And as a female moose, this curious creature is much smaller than its male counterpart.

After emptying its bladder on Nichole's front lawn, the moose darted back into the woods.

Nichole named the moose Mooshy after her recently deceased sister.
