It's a meteor, it's aliens, it's a ... Red Bull ad?
Los Angeles natives were shocked last week when a burning fireball streaked through the skies above the city skyline.
Social media quickly set to speculating about what it might be, before LA Police stepped in to clear things up.

Apparently, the flaming streak was neither space debris nor a long-overdue First Contact, but a marketing stunt.
“PSA: A meteor did not crash into Downtown Los Angeles and no, it’s not an alien invasion,” the LAPD wrote on Twitter.
The team at Red Bull apparently decided the best way to market their sugary energy drink - and commemorate the year's last supermoon - was to light a couple gliders on fire and toss them out of a helicopter.

The jumpers were actually equipped with "LED lights and sparkling pyrotechnics", Red Bull said in a statement.
Enough to convince the natives of Tinseltown they might be about to wiped out by a meteor, anyway.
