The classic novel you may have covered in school is getting its own TV adaptation.

Today, Stan and the BBC announced production and casting for the brand-new original series Lord of the Flies.

Based on William Golding's best-selling novel of the same name, the highly-anticipated TV adaption will be a four-part series from the brilliant minds of National Treasure and Game of Thrones.

From screen writer Jack Thorne (His Dark Materials, National Treasure, Enola Holmes), and award-winning director Marc Munden, the adaptation will be a first for television with many of the young stars making their TV debuts.

The novel was a film adaption in 1990.

Filming has commenced in Malaysia, starring an incredible cast led by multi-award winning casting director Nina Gold (Game of Thrones, Baby Reindeer).

David McKenna joins the cast as loyal character Piggy alongside Winston Sawyers as charismatic leader Ralph. The young cast also includes Lox Pratt as Jack, Isaac Talbut as Simon, and Thomas Connor as Roger.

The remarkable young cast was found through an open casting call which stipulated no prior acting experience was necessary.

In addition, the series will feature an original score co-created by Academy Award®-winning composer Hans Zimmer (Dune, The Lion King) and multi-Emmy nominated Kara Talve (Stan Original Series The Tattooist of Auschwitz).

"It's a real privilege to be working with Jack Thorne once again, the wonderful cast of young actors we've assembled and the brilliant team at Eleven on this beautifully fresh adaptation."

While Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama added, "Lord of the Flies is British storytelling at its finest and most thoughtful, and there is no better home for its first ever television adaptation."
