After terrorising the people of Melbourne for weeks, Jarrod Bungert is about to put his most catastrophic plan in motion. But not if forensic psychiatrist Jane Halifax has anything to do about it.

She knows the former university activist is about to unleash another attack and will do everything she can to talk him round.

First Jane has to work out what Jarrod has planned and a clue about his father will point her and Taskforce Stingray in the right direction.

It seems Jarrod is attempting a large scale attack using a chemical bomb that could kill thousands across the city.

Jarrod sets his plan in motion at the wharf and waits patiently with his bomb. However it has a 'dead man's switch', and if Jarrod is shot the bomb will detonate.

Snipers and the other members of the Taskforce surround the wharf and Jane will bravely go in to sit down one-on-one with Jarrod to find a resolution.

It's not the only showdown Jane will have in the series finale. Jane will come face-to-face with Mandy for the first time since she was arrested for conspiring to murder Ben.

Mandy had intended for Jane to be killed after Ben stopped secretly handing Mandy regular sums of cash. However, the shooter missed the target and struck Ben.

From then on the only weapon Mandy's had against Jane is Mandy and Ben's daughter Zoe. So Mandy has set out to destroy Jane and Zoe's already fractured relationship by driving an even bigger wedge between them.

Trying to get a confession out of Mandy won't be easy. Mandy is manipulative yet charming and clearly shows signs of narcissism. And if Detective Mila Bronski can't break her, Jane's psychiatry skills will be put to the ultimate test.

That just leaves Jane's fractured relationship with Zoe. The stepmother and daughter have been at odds since Ben's death because of Jane's struggle to show her grief.

But with Mandy arrested and proof that she organised the hit that killed Ben, Zoe will realise the only person she can truly count on is Jane.

And when Zoe pieces together that Jane has put her life at risk to talk down the shooter, Zoe rushes to the wharf regretting every harsh word and hoping she'll get the chance to mend their relationship.

Will she get the chance to speak to Jane again?
