Dude picks the worst possible moment to propose to his 'coasterphobic' girlfriend

There are a lot of ways to propose to someone.

There's the standard fancy dinner proposal and there's the casual "oi, do ya wanna git hitched?" approach.

And we're not saying that one method is necessarily better than the other – it all depends on the couple.

But we're not sure about this one.

Michael Garcia decided the best method to ask his girlfriend of two-and-a-half years to legally bind herself to him was just before being shot into the air on a 100m slingshot ride in Orlando, Florida.

And it's worth pointing out that he described his intended, Fallow Worth, as "coasterphobic".

Oakie doakie mate.

And it's not like this was a spur of the moment thing either.

He was prepared, having tethered the engagement ring to himself (which was a good plan, BTW, because it could have been a complete disaster if he dropped the ring up there).

This proposal method just has too many dark metaphors for marriage.

There's the future bride repeatedly saying "I don't want to do this", literally trembling with dread.

There's the tears and Worth refusing to open her eyes.

And there's something about hurtling involuntarily into the darkness that doesn't make the nicest allegory for matrimony.

Let's not even get into the potential for vomit.

But it seems things ended well.

Garcia got down on one knee to officially ask for Worth's hand in marriage (and maybe her forgiveness…).

And she said yes.

The couple plans on tying the knot in October 2018, exactly one year after the proposal.
