Queensland trail bike ride cops a massive bloody rock to the chest

This is rough.

Brissy-based Hayden Poptie was heading up a hill in Killarney, Queensland on a trail ride fundraiser over the weekend and copped a rogue boulder to the chest.

Some would say "rock", but we reckon "boulder" is a more appropriate term.

Because this massive stone just rolled down the hill out of nowhere, with a blatant disregard for anyone in its path.

Poptie told The Warwick Daily News' Jonno Colfs the rock weighed about 20 kilos.

That's like 10 standard milk bottles coming straight for you – full cream milk too, none of this two percent stuff.

"I had to get 10 stitches," he said.

"And ended up with a heap of grazes and a haematoma on my upper arm and shoulder."

Just so you know, a hematoma is a solid pooling of blood busted out of a vein that forms a mega whopper bruise.

The blow also ripped his shirt.

And as for his bike?

"It just has some bent bars and a few scratches," Poptie said.

Thankfully Poptie was part of a massive organised trail ride, held as a fundraiser for Killarney State School P&C, so there were plenty of SES, ambos and concerned parents around to help out.

He was taken to hospital but the 22-year-old reckons the incident won't keep him from hopping back on his bike or cracking a nice pun.

"This hill climb at Killarney really rocked," he said on Instagram.

What a good sport.
